Choeng Mon is the large peninsula in Samui's northeast with many beaches

This northeast peninsula of Koh Samui has four bays, each with its own, pretty tropical beach plus its own atmosphere and style of beachfront accommodation. There is a long, coconut lined beach down the West facing the sunset.
The most famous beach here is Choeng Mon after which the whole area is named, which also has the widest range of beach cottages, designer resorts and beach hotels. This beach has very soft white sand, and the water is quite deep and good for swimming. There are some local Thai restaurants at mid beach, and good shade trees at each end. This beach has a few beautiful spa resorts with luxury villas set in lush tropical gardens.
Tongsai Bay with its famous resort, The Tonsai Bay, is within view of the sands of Choeng Mon.
Hidden at the very top of Samui in little bays that few visitors ever find are two small, quiet stretches of sand, Samrong Beach and Thongson Beach. There are few hotels here, 4-star and 5-star, with just one old backpacker bungalows remaining, offering budget, seaview cottages. Samrong Beach and the adjacent peninsula holds one of Samui's top luxury resorts, Six Senses Hideaway Samui.
These two top-end bays have good white sand and clear water, but are too shallow for swimming at low tide.
Plai Laem Beach on the west coast is a long, straight stretch of tropical coral sand shaded by overhanging coconut palms... an idyllic beach escape to enjoy magnificent sunsets as the sun drops over the northern beaches of Samui. There are few accommodations here. Some local hotels call this Sunset Beach.
