The catch-all name for the largest unbroken stretch of sand on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic seems like the start of an endless, palm-linedtropical paradise of fine sand and sparkling blue water.

The water stays fairly shallow for 50 yards or so offshore, making the beach here suitable for swimmers of all levels of experience. Maintenance of the beach is outstanding, making the sand as clean as anywhere in the Caribbean.

Individual areas range from busy and high-traffic to secluded and blissfully quiet. There are many concessions available for food and drink and recreational equipment. The beach area has a strong Mediterranean feel, with many white-washed buildings and tile roofs.

For all the commercial activity just a short distance away, pockets of the beach can feel secluded and blissfully private.
