EDITOR’S INDEPENDENT REVIEW:Hilton Curaçao is a luxury resort and true beachfront property located on the island country of Curaçao in the Caribbean. The island has a semi-arid climate which is warm and sunny almost the entire year. Along with other islands that share a Dutch colonial history, Curaçao forms a part of what is known as the Netherlands Antilles. The resort is built on 9.3 hectares of prime beachfront land on the site of a historic 16th century Dutch colonial fort. With two white sand beaches, an infinity pool, a children’s pool and sprawling landscaped gardens, location is the highest rated feature of this property. Equally popular with the locals, the resort invites provincial tourists on day visits to enjoy the various dining and entertainment options during weekends. The whole resort and primarily its beaches and pool become places of lively multilingual enterprise and colorful activity.
Accommodations consist of standard rooms, executive rooms, suites and accessibility rooms. Many of the rooms have been recently renovated and each has a king bed or two double beds. Every room also has a balcony, refrigerator and luxury bath amenities. Suites are furnished in a tropical and contemporary decor. These are equipped with a large desk and ergonomic office chair. The executive rooms are located on the upper levels, offer the best ocean views and are worth the extra spending by most accounts. These are furnished in a lavish wood-toned décor and come with many additional services including access to an executive lounge with food and drinks service nearly all day.
The main restaurant provides an expansive breakfast buffet with Caribbean favorites and a live omelet station. They also serve brunch on Sundays. An open air Italian restaurant serves pastas and fine wines. There is an open bar overlooking the beach that serves local liquor while a corner shop offers magazines, snacks, gifts, souvenirs and fresh coffee to go. A beach bar and grill expecting renovation work during September 2015 will open for lunch and occasional theme nights with live entertainment. The executive lounge located on the fifth floor offers views of the Caribbean Sea, free continental breakfast for members, evening happy hours and high speed internet. Room service works till 01:00.
The resort has a spa and beach club with a focus on living well. There is a casino on-site and a kids’ club to keep children occupied. A certified diving center operates nearby. The resort is 9.7 km from the Hato International Airport and 10.1 km from Blue Bay Golf Resort. Nearby attractions include an exotic floating fruit market, a museum, several dining and shopping options and sightseeing in the historic town.
