Welcome to the Island View Beachfront Resort.

We are a small, cozy, but very comfortable beachfront resort located on the quiet "divers and lovers" side of Bohol Island in the Visayas region of the Philippines. We are located right beside a beautiful, quiet, white beach, with a coral reef beyond. On a clear day, the twin volcanic peaks of Camiguin Island appear on the horizon, rising out of the morning mists of the Bohol Sea, creating the impression that one is looking at the exotic paradise island of Bali Ha'i.

Bohol's capital, Tagbilaran, is serviced by several daily flights from Manila, and fast ferries from Cebu, the regional center. The resort is located in the small and friendly municipality of Anda. It takes a little less than two hours along a good quality picturesque coastal road to reach the resort from Tagbilaran. We can arrange a car to meet you at the airport, or the ferry terminal, or you could catch a bus to Guindalman township and from there catch a "tricycle" to the resort.

With a total of only eight rooms - five Deluxe Beachfront Suites and three Standard Rooms - there will never be crowds. The Deluxe Suites have larger bathrooms, fridges, security safes, a larger wardrobe, and finer furnishings including a bed-sofa in addition to a large bed or twin beds. They are more suitable for long-term guests, honeymooners, and small families. However, the Standard rooms which have either large or twin beds are comfortable and are perfect for budget travelers.

All our rooms face the sea and are only a few seconds walk from the beach. All rooms have WiFi access but, to ensure peace and quiet, and to the surprise and delight of most of our guests, we do not have TV.

Our neighbors are local fishermen and farmers. We have lush green mountains behind us and miles of blue sea in front, as far as the eye can see.

Our guests come from all over the world. Most are young couples, or young families, friends traveling together, expatriates relaxing, professionals recharging, and sometimes the occasional Hemingway stays for a while to work on a novel. Many are divers, but all enjoy the sea, or at least being close to it. And many friendships have been made on the beach or at the Bar.

We can arrange diving expeditions on the reef and can provide snorkeling gear for you to enjoy the waters directly in front of the resort. When the tide is low or choppy you can enjoy our 20m horizon pool.

We have kayaks and outriggers for exploring the reef. Beachcombing or wandering along the beach to Anda is always rewarding.

If you would like to explore further; perhaps the Chocolate Hills, visit the Philippine Tarsiers, or just explore the interior of Bohol, then we can arrange motorbikes or a vehicle with a friendly and knowledgeable driver.

We have a great menu which includes selections of popular Philippine, South East Asian, and International cuisine. You can dine in the open upstairs restaurant overlooking the reef and the Bohol sea, or at the Aninipot (fire-fly) Beach Bar.

The bar is well stocked and has a good selection of new and old world wines as well as cocktails. These can be enjoyed in the evenings, with a backdrop of unobtrusive fine Jazz music, at your dining table or with friends at the bar.

A warm welcome to the Island View Beachfront Resort.

Unlike so many other places, we would never claim to be "just like your home". Unless of course your home is located just a few meters of lush tropical garden away from a hidden tropical beach and the turquoise waters of the Bohol Sea, in which case you would never want to leave it. Rather, what we would like to offer you is far from your everyday experience; something very special.

We are a small, cozy, but very comfortable beachfront resort located on the quiet "divers and lovers" side of Bohol Island in the Visayas region of the Philippines.

Bohol is serviced by several daily flights from Manila, the national capital, and fast ferries from Cebu, the regional center. The resort is located in the small and friendly municipality of Anda. It takes a little less than two hours along a good quality picturesque coastal road to reach the resort. We can arrange a car to meet you at the airport or the ferry terminal, or you could come by bus and "tricycle".

With a total of only eight rooms - five Deluxe Beachfront Suites and three Standard Rooms - there will never be crowds. All our rooms face the sea and are only a few seconds walk from the beach. Our neighbors are local fishermen and farmers. We have lush green mountains behind us and miles of blue in front, as far as the eye can see.

Our guests come from all over the world. Most are young couples, or young families, friends travelling together, expatriates relaxing, professionals recharging, and sometimes the occasional Hemingway stays for a while to work on a novel. Some are divers, but all enjoy the sea, or at least being close to it. And many friendships have been made at the Bar.

All our guests praise the tranquility and beauty of the resort and its surroundings, and they are unanimous in commenting on the friendliness of the staff.

Accommodation
All the rooms are comfortable, with air-conditioning and hot and cold water (although non air-con is an option), and all rooms have separate levels for the living and sleeping areas.

The Deluxe Suites, however, are more spacious with a larger bathroom, and a number of additional features, including refrigerators, security safes, and large wardrobes. The Deluxe suites come with a choice of either double or twin beds, and they also have a bed-sofa, ideal for one child.

The Standard Rooms are designed for more budget conscious travelers, especially couples. They can also be provided with a double or twin beds, and an extra small bed can be provided if required.

One feature of the resort which has been consistently applauded by our guests is that we do not have television in the rooms. So, while you can easily check out what is happening on your various Wi-Fi devices, there will be no disturbance, all too familiar to regular travelers in the Philippines, from the sound of late night soap operas or cartoons coming from the adjoining rooms.

services and facilities

Things to do
The resort is located next to a fine sandy beach, directly in front of which is an extensive coral reef with large patches of sea grass, and the magnificent Bohol Sea beyond. The white sand and tropical reef provide the opportunity for many environmentally friendly water sports.

The sea immediately in front is perfect for snorkeling, or exploring the reef by kayak or small native outrigger. We can provide the boats, reef shoes, masks and snorkels, but if you have one, do bring an underwater camera to record the clown fish and other wonders of the reef.

Superb shells can be found along the coastline and beachcombing in the early mornings and evenings can be a rewarding experience. At low tide the municipal center of Anda can be reached with a 40 minute wander.

If you are interested in reef diving, whether you are an experienced diver, or wish to become one, we can arrange for any one of three local dive operators to cater for all your needs.

Swimming, or just relaxing, can make you hungry, so for your nourishment we provide a fine selection of Philippine, Asian and International cuisine which you can enjoy either in our upstairs restaurant – which has a breathtaking view of the Bohol Sea, including the mysterious, volcanic Camiguin Island – or you can choose to dine in the very relaxed Aninipot (fire-fly) Beach Bar, located in the garden right next to the beach.

When the local fishermen have a good catch they will bring the most flavorsome of the reef fish, and occasionally lobsters, to the resort for you to select.

The Aninipot Beach Bar is always welcoming and the staff are friendly. The bar is well stocked and, in addition to local and international drinks, we serve quality red, white, sparkling, and dessert wines.

The bar is popular with passing beachcombers, and local expatriates and guests from other resorts often pop in for a meal or a drink. Happy Hour is from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. (Guests may be assured that in order to maintain the tranquility of the resort and its surroundings, the entire resort area, including the bar, is both a Karaoke and hip-hop free zone).

Sometimes the sea gets a bit choppy, or the tide is low, or the sun is a little strong. That is when the swimming pool comes in handy. Our horizon pool provides a swimming area of 20 meters by 6 meters (that’s quite big) as well as a separate shallow area for kids, and a lazing area close to the bar, for bigger people.

Once the swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, boating, beachcombing, and other serious stuff has been taken care of, you can relax in the shade on the beach and watch the fishing boats and coastal ships go by, you can catch up with your reading on your personal balcony, just laze in the tropical garden, or adjourn to the Bar. The sound of the sea will always be in the background.

Nature is as bountiful on land as in the sea: Bird life is spectacular with Maya Finches, Sunbirds, Pacific Swallows and Fantails nesting in the garden, and many other species, both common and rare, regularly visit the garden and the shoreline. Herons, terns, kingfishers, and sea eagles are often seen.

Other forms of wildlife, including smiling tree frogs, lizards of all colors and sizes, a range of glorious tropical butterflies, as well as night flying creatures such as bats and spectacular fire-flies, all delight our guests (and us). All of these, as well as the tropical plants and flowers, are a treat for photographers.

directions

We are approachable by plane from Manila or ferry from Cebu. Both arrive at Tagbilaran, the capital of Bohol. From Tagbilaran to the Island View is a little less than two hours by car.We can arrange a pick up from the airport or the ferry if you let us know your arrival details in advance.

If you want to travel independently, take a tricycle to the bus station and get a bus to either Guindalman or Anda, and from there to the Island View by tricycle. There is also an Express Van service from Tagbilaran to Anda that can drop you at the resort. We would recommend a pick-up arranged by the resort to ensure a relaxed journey and so that you can stop along the way.

You can choose to come by the coastal or interior road. If you have a car and driver you can visit the Tarsiers and the Chocolate Hills as well as a number of other sites located on the interior road for a little extra.
